Whining, complaining...

Bleeeeeh, recap from the last few days:

Saturday was fine. I'd been told last Wednesday that I needed to try and minimize the amount of dog hair on my clothing because it was aggravating the new guy's allergies. Personally, I think the fact that the office shares a wall with a *dog groomer* is a bigger culprit when it comes to dog-related allergens (because the units are partially open to each other above the ceiling tiles), but allergies do super suck, and if I can cut down on the unpleasantness, I will. I lint-rolled the hell out of everything, and brought a vinyl bag to put my jacket and my purse into, to try and minimize any stray hair that could be on those. Manager vacuumed and I wiped stuff down on Friday and again on Saturday morning.
I talked to new guy and asked if there was anything else that would help, and he sort of shrugged it off, and said that he was sorry to be a pain. He didn't *seem* to be having many allergy issues, though if it wasn't the sniffly-sneezy-eye-watering kind, then I likely wouldn't/didn't notice.

Then Sunday he quit an hour before his shift, citing the allergy issue, but also claiming that he'd been complaining for *weeks* about dog hair in the office and that we'd been unwilling to do anything about it. :/ When... he'd first mentioned it to the manager on Tuesday, and we fairly immediately did what we could think of to try and help. Though still, being next to a groomer, there's only so much me lint-rolling my clothes can do.
(I actually think there was other stuff going on... he'd mentioned quitting three or four times, basically any time someone had any complaint, like "well, that just tells me I should find a new job if things don't work out here" which... yeah, that's cool, please do move on if this is a bad fit!... but he'd say it in response to weirdly mild stuff, like an instructor griping about a curriculum change that they didn't like. Like, man, it's just mild grousing about a thing that doesn't impact you at all because you aren't even an instructor. He also runs his own art business, and he had some LONG rants about how frustrating that is currently, and then how much time he was going to have to take off for craft fairs and makers markets and things, so I feel like this may have been an inevitable parting of ways anyway.)

Monday I got up fairly early, but Alex shut off his alarm... and then just kept on sleeping. He'd cancelled his PT appointment, though we didn't end up getting more than an inch or so of snow, so I just let him sleep. He ended up sleeping for almost 14 hours, and only woke up when I took Cy out for an early afternoon outdoor jaunt. He felt sick the whole day, kind of flu-ish. Took a Covid test and it was negative, but he clearly felt like ass. He spent the whole day in bed.
I had some of the worst executive dysfunction I've had in a while and spent most of the day struggling to do ANYTHING. At least my joints stopped hurting once the snow had moved through!

Tuesday Alex still felt like garbage, and still didn't want to get out of bed. I cleaned the kitchen, because the dish pile was getting pretty concerning, lol. But turns out being on my feet that long did NOT agree with my back, and I spent most of the rest of the day barely able to move. What a fun weekend for both of us! LMAO

My back is better today, but Alex is still feeling pretty crappy. It's also supposed to stay really cold with potential for snow showers for the next week, and I'm so beyond over this! The snow and cold aren't WEIRD, but usually it at least starts warming up in between the cold and snow spells, so things start to melt. I am *literally* daydreaming about it just being warm enough to go on a walk.

That situation with new guy is weird. I wouldn't want to judge, esp not from a distance, but if he really is that sensitive then an office next to a groomers is inherently going to be a bad time for him.

Even if they have good air filters... there is still the front door and everything else. That just don't make a lot of sense.

Still good on your company for trying to accommodate him and not telling him to deal.

A freshly groomed pupper will just have so much loose hair to still shake off and newly exposed dander. Yeah, not great.
