Some random pictures from the last week...ish.

...we found another katydid.

She was outside and fluttering around sadly on the ground. This one is a female.

We scooped her up because she seemed sad and in danger, lol. She was slightly bigger than Greenbean, and seemed to be a slightly lighter color, with dark eyes instead of green. The next morning in better light, they were the same color actually, and her eyes were no longer dark. (Experimentation has shown that the eye color seems to be a reaction to light - when they're in the dark for quite a while, their eyes are dark. Lets in more light, like dilated pupils?) Before figuring that out, I took her apparent color-change into account and named her Moodring.

Here is Greenbean at the top and Moodring at the bottom, eating some beans.

Ultimately I got her her own mesh bug cage. One was a little small for both of them, and they didn't seem to get along terribly well. (Not like they fight or anything, but they'd click and posture kind of angrily until one of them would walk away.) So probably not looking at katydid eggs in our future.

The males do the strings of clicks, while the females do single very loud clicks. They are both quite loud for a small apartment, but I still like them.

At the park, I got a really nice picture of a bee:

(And extra bee friends. The asters are much-loved by the bees in the fall.)

Seven pictures from the park: mushrooms, dogs, bugs... )

The spot where the houseplants are the thickest, lol. (This is not all of them.)
[Top row: African violet that I brought back from the brink of death once, small dish of succulents, my Christmas cactus that I also feared was a lost cause, shiny new pothos, shiny new African violet, Alex's other giant African violet, and then my dragonwing begonia which has absolutely exploded there, ha.
Bottom row: Little spider plant, little itty bitty monstera, library plant (a peperomia, grown from my original), a couple little cuttings I stole from an abandoned plant in the apartment lobby seeing if they root, a leaf from one of the African violets that Alex is trying to clone, a different shiny new pothos, a grafted cactus that has far outlived expectations, and another spider plant.]

Four pictures of houseplants: )

And two pictures of mom and Taylor's cat:

She settled in immediately. She has been named Mocha.

She screm for food.

On Sunday, Alex took Bella to her first FastCAT competition. (CAT stands for Coursing Ability Test, not anything to do with cats, lol.) It's basically having your dog run as fast as possible for 100 yards. Since Bella loves running and chasing, it seemed like something she'd enjoy doing.

She... was not very good at it, lol. Sounds like she was mostly just distracted, in part because they had a technical difficulty right at the start of her first run, which delayed her for a few minutes, and by the time she could go, she was more excited to play with the person who was releasing her at the start line. (Alex was at the finish line.)

But she got participation ribbons, lol. (Picture from Alex.)

Bella continues to enjoy wildlife rehab shows. She was very charmed by a seal! (And Cy as a pillow.)

Summer "Berry Mad" Refresher, having had a nice caterpillar from my mom's garden. She is quite round.

I wanted a picture of Cy with his current favorite toy (a crinkly rainbow bagel). The way he was gnawing on it made his head look weirdly shaped, lol.

Here he is, looking a bit more proportional, laying on the bed.

Last Thursday we had a pretty spectacular rainbow:

A double rainbow, even! what does it mean?

It was so bright!

It was a complete rainbow, all the way from end to end. Most impressive was just how long it lasted! It was there when I left my office, and I took the first picture while I was waiting for Alex to pick me up. The second picture was a few minutes into the commute home. It was still visible when we made the last turn toward our apartment, so it lasted at least 30 minutes or so, just that we saw. Plus however long it was out before I left my office, and however long it lasted after we were home.

One spider and one caterpillar in my mom's garden: )

I think I've mentioned before that Bella is the first dog I've had that really cares to watch TV. Cy and other dogs I've had will look at the TV in response to sound or something (Cy in particular, before going deaf, was extremely interested in and excited by kitten sounds), but they've never cared to watch it.

Bella... does. It's very funny. She will watch for several minutes at a stretch sometimes, very clearly tracking things across the screen, ears up, completely focused. She especially loves wildlife rehab shows. (Her absolute favorites seem to be foxes and deer, as well as horses, which she is also very excited by in real life.)

We didn't do much of anything this "weekend," but we did last weekend!

Last Monday we went up to Pine Valley Ranch, which is a county open space park. We call it "Baby Bear Lake," because the first (and only other) time we went there, Alex saw a baby bear running along the hill. I did not see the bear cub, as I was looking at a crayfish at the time. (Of course.) Turned out the bear cub had been separated from the mother bear, who was very loudly searching for the cub for quite some time (we did not see her, but did hear her. A park ranger came along and warned us about it, but I think they were eventually reunited.)

It's a pretty area. It was very hot, but there were still a fair number of people out. Fortunately it wasn't too difficult to get mostly away from the other groups.

My favorite thing we saw: leopard frogs! They were all quite small, about two inches long, maybe. And nearly metallic!

I adore leopard frogs; when I was a little kid, I raised a leopard frog tadpole up through adulthood, and that was one of my favorite pets ever. We don't always get to see leopard frogs; as much as I do also like seeing bullfrogs, they've pretty much outcompeted a lot of our other frogs.

And we did have Bella with us, and she is sometimes very cute.

Alex took this picture, but it was the best of the day imo.

I'm not terribly patriotic, particularly after All That from the Supreme Court, but it is also Alex's and my anniversary. 15 years together!

We went out for fireworks, and brought the dogs with. We'd brought that umbrella in the background of the above pic to make shade, especially for Cy, but he absolutely wanted to be in the sun the whole time.

I gave myself another four-day weekend, this time to attend Denver Pride on Saturday. It's the 50th anniversary of Denver Pride this year!

Saturday:
Denver Pride )

-

Sunday:

We started by visiting the park! It was already stupid hot, but we wanted the dogs to get to walk around outside for at least a little while.

I took pictures of bees, but right now my photo-embedder thing is timing out, so I will have to share those later.

Mostly, we had to clean. )

Monday:
We'd braced for having to do nothing Monday and Tuesday, since we didn't know when it would be our turn for the apartment inspection, and we weren't allowed to leave the dogs in the apartment unattended/unconfined. Since it's so hot, we can't take them anywhere either, so we were going to have to stay home until it was our turn.

Well, they came to our apartment first thing on Monday morning at 8:30, ha. Score! It took them all of maybe 90 seconds, so it definitely didn't require as much cleaning as we did, but it'll still be worthwhile for us to have a better environment. The guy was nice, and he said that it was preventive, not in response to any issues. (I hope that is the truth. Having a friend here going through a bedbug war right now, it sounds AWFUL.)

Buuuuuut... despite no longer having to wait around we also didn't have any plans for the day, since we'd assumed we'd be stuck home.

Alex went down to the county services office to try and sort out an issue with some of his benefits, which wound up being a very frustrating appointment. (They want a letter from his psych provider, which they did not include anywhere in their redetermination list. And his provider just moved to NY.)

After that, he was annoyed and just wanted to take a nap.

I finally got around to making more boards to put my enamel pins on! I've been trying to do that for months and months, and just never manage to get around to it! I'm really happy with them, but again, I apparently can't embed photos at the moment, so that'll be a later share.

Today:
We filled out our ballots and dropped them off. We took the dogs to the park to give them a good brushing, because oof, so much shedding!

Ran some needed errands, including over to the vet to put in a new request for refills on Cy's meds, since the voicemail on the px line we left weeks ago never got returned. Also hit the grocery store.

I wish we'd done a bit more with the long weekend. It's likely to be the longest stretch I'll have off for a while, and I feel like I wasted it a bit, minus going to Pride. But at the same time, it meant that all the cleaning and responsible errand-running didn't take up ALL my time off for a given week, which feels better too.

Plus I really am happy about getting the pin boards done, as well as quite a lot of reading. (I am finally halfway through The Name of the Wind. Why is it so looooong?)

I am SO behind on many things - obviously including everything here! I'm hoping that next week can be a bit of a catch-up week, if nothing else.

Here are some assorted pictures from the last few weeks. Mostly flowers (lots of irises), dogs, a few bugs... basically the usual!

Cy in front of the potentillas.

And Bella in front of the potentillas!

My mom has a beautiful iris bed full of these purple irises. They were divided from irises her grandfather grew, given to her as a housewarming present for the first house she and my dad bought. Every time she's moved since then, she's divided the irises again, leaving some and taking some with her. They're having a beautiful year this year!

May 12th, four pictures: bunny + flowers + bee )

May 14th, four pictures: dogs + irises )

May 20th, six pictures: dogs + flowers )

May 28th, three pictures: more flowers + hummingbird )

I've been planning to post pics ever since the ones from the 12th, ha.

We have a model show coming up this weekend, so I've got some prep for that, plus I've got just one fic to go to finish up the lingering AUgust fics from last year... but once all of that is done this week, I'm hoping to have time to catch up on things and not feel so perpetually behind!

It's a bit soon to say that it's *really* spring yet; we did have quite a lot of snow on Saturday, though it melted off quickly. But the last couple of days have at least felt like spring, and it's nice to finally see leaves and flowers!

Bella looking at the treat in Alex's hand posing in front of the lilacs.

And Cy!

Eight more pictures of flowers and dogs )

We'll see if the weather stays nice! It's probably too much to hope for that we've seen the last of the snow, but I'd really like if it confined itself to rain from here on out!

We actually had a string of nice days that overlapped my weekend, so we were able to go out for a walk on Monday.

We went to Pelican Pond.

Bella even got to go for a nice little wade along the shore. (Though she looks so serious, haha.)

We left Cy at home, since even fairly easy walks are too much for him these days. He gets tired pretty quickly, and I know his joints and feet start to hurt. Plus he's so unsteady, I worry about him falling and really hurting himself. Of course, that didn't stop him from looking at us like we were monsters for leaving him.

Probably the most exciting thing we got to see: an immature bald eagle! (It had most of its adult plumage, but still some mottling along the head rather than the very stark white. Another gentleman who'd stopped to take pictures said he'd guess it's around 4 years old.) We weren't close enough to get great pictures, but it's still exciting to me to see eagles at all. It doesn't feel like it was that long ago that they were a rarity.

It was nice to get to go for a good walk. I'm beyond ready for the cold and wind and threats of snow to end!
mistressofmuses: Image of nebulae in the colors of the bi pride flag: pink, purple, and blue (Default)
We made it through the wind storm! It was pretty nasty overnight on Saturday, but no damage to our building. My mom had minimal damage at her house - the fence between her neighbor's and her patio came down and will need replacing, and she had some collateral damage to a few planters. A little decorative fountain fell over but doesn't appear to have broken. No downed trees or structural damage.

The worst for us was that the elevators were out on Sunday morning! Our power had gone out a few times, but always came back very quickly, but apparently one of the outages kicked the elevators offline. It was tough to have to help Cy down the six flights of stairs, but fortunately we only had to do it once before they were fixed.

-

Cy had his followup with the vet/his annual shots today, plus we brought Bella in at the same time to get her shots for the year.

He's doing well! We think the anti-inflammatory was making a difference (he's been out for about three days, and has seemed a bit stiffer without it.) In order to keep him on it, he does need a blood test to make sure it's safe for him long-term. He got a new px for it, but we'll find out after the blood test results come back whether he gets to stay on it. I hope so.

Both of them did really well with their shots. Cy was a bit lethargic right after, and just wanted to take an immediate nap. Bella was hyped up right after, but I think started to get a bit sore a few hours later.

We'll go back in another three weeks for Cy's lepto booster shot (Bella had hers last year, so she only needed one dose) and I really hope that's the last vet trip for a while.

-

Our vet appointment was at 11:20. The solar eclipse started at... 11:28, lol.

Here we only maxed out at somewhere between 60 and 70% coverage for the eclipse, so it was a noticeable change in the light quality, but not extremely obvious. (I would love to actually experience a total solar eclipse... maybe in 21 years!)

The vet office did have a few pairs of eclipse glasses, so when we were done at around 12:00 they shared them around so we could go take a look at it. Even if it wasn't nearly the experience of totality, it's still a cool thing.

I did the thing you aren't supposed to do and took a picture with my phone again. I still love that it captures the little tiny eclipse lens flare, ha.

And while it would have been more dramatic with the trees leafed out (we aren't there yet), even the scrubby branch shadows got some crescent shapes in them.

Cy is allowed up on the bed now during the day and the evenings when we're just hanging out or watching TV. (He still has to sleep on the floor, which he still doesn't understand or like, but it's just too risky that he'll stumble and fall, or try to jump off the bed and hurt himself. Less dangerous if we're actively supervising.)

He rolled over on top of one of my plushes and it looked like he was snuggling it.

And here's Bella with her little pink nose.
mistressofmuses: Image of nebulae in the colors of the bi pride flag: pink, purple, and blue (Default)
Cy is doing better today.

He had to sleep on the bed on the floor, but he did get up a couple of times overnight to reposition.

This morning he didn't want to get up, so Alex used the sling to help him up and get him downstairs to go outside. Once we were outside, he walked on his own and made it all the way back to the apartment without help.

Apparently Alex took a nap sometime mid-afternoon, and when he woke up Cy was in bed with him. On the one hand: great, he's feeling well enough to jump up on the bed! On the other NO NO NO DON'T DO THAT, JUMPING IS THE THING THE VET SAID NOT TO LET YOU DO AT ALL.

Tonight he's been moving around almost normally. Still a little unsteady and stiff, but getting up pretty regularly and walking around.

Here are some pictures of the dogs from the last few weeks:

Cy in the snow we got last week!

Cy and Bella in their coats out in the snow.

Bella will occasionally watch TV, particularly if there are animals on screen. She really likes "My Cat From Hell," particularly if the cats are running around and playing. She also will watch dogs on-screen:

mistressofmuses: Image of nebulae in the colors of the bi pride flag: pink, purple, and blue (Default)
Today did not include as much catching up on everything as I had hoped, but it wasn't nothing, either.

The vast majority of the day was devoted to doing laundry, which means going to the laundromat. (There is a laundry room in our building, but the machines don't work well, half of them are usually out of order, people steal things, you have to use a proprietary card that you pay for through their website... it's just not worth it.)

We actually did... ALL the laundry this time. There's been a bag of sheets and towels that have been put off for months and months at this point, and they're finally washed!

Even more impressively, I put all my damn laundry away immediately when we got home!

We also got some stuff sorted for the show we're going to on Friday, and I played cheer section for Alex getting a couple of painting projects close to complete.

We also got both Cy's and Bella's nails trimmed. They tend to be quite good about it, but it's still a process that they don't love.

-

Tomorrow I have a dentist appointment, and then am going in for half a day at work. I have Friday-Sunday off, because we have a model show on Friday, and I took Sat-Sun off both for a recovery day, and because the horse expo is happening all weekend and we may want to go back.

Dreading the dentist appointment, because I feel like I'm stuck still dealing with the long stretch of bad (nonexistent) dental care that I had. I think there's some wear at the edge of an old filling, and almost every time I seem to have some new thing that needs addressing.

Even more, I'm dreading our impending weather. We are supposed to get a snow storm that is likely to be measured in FEET coming in tomorrow and lasting through Thursday. That is NOT great for getting to and from work on Thurs, which is my only full work day this week. It is also not great for having to get around early on Friday morning, which is when the model show starts. This is one of those "destination" shows, so there are people from all over the US flying in, and a lot of them are worried about flights being cancelled and such. We live near enough, but if the roads are bad, that's still going to be a struggle.

I'm really hoping we get less snow than is being threatened, but every time a new forecast comes out it's with higher totals!

(And I can very much feel it moving in. All my joints hurt!)
mistressofmuses: Image of nebulae in the colors of the bi pride flag: pink, purple, and blue (Default)
Well, today my phone died. It's probably all the way dead. It's stuck in an infinite boot loop, showing me the logo for about a half second, then going dark, then trying again. I can try to force it into recovery mode, and then it just flashes "recovery" at me for a half a second instead, lol.

So the hope is that it wears the battery down all the way and then I can try to see if it'll magically start correctly once I charge it back up. (Of course, HOW LONG do I have to wait for the battery to die? How much power is the little on-off blink consuming? Lots, because it's trying to boot? Or next to none? It's been stuck in this loop for about 11 hours now, and it's still going...)

I don't think it's worth paying much of anything to try and get it repaired, because it's a crappy phone that's needed replacing anyway. But it also SUCKS to have to replace a phone after you've lost access to the old one, because so much account stuff won't transfer over. It's also usually also a nightmare for two-factor authentication things, as so many things (in my experience) try to send a confirmation to an old device, even if you've ported the number to a new one.

BUT UNRELATED TO THAT:

Here are my favorite pictures that I took this year. These aren't Serious Photography or anything, they're just phone pics (FROM MY POOR DEAD PHONE), but I still got some that I'm very happy with this year. I was going to do my top ten, but I wound up with top 15. :)

My favorite subject matter is pretty apparent! It's almost all dogs, flowers, insects, and birds!

My fifteen favorite pictures from 2023: )
mistressofmuses: Image of nebulae in the colors of the bi pride flag: pink, purple, and blue (Default)
My work day on Christmas Eve was just as slow as expected. I finished up with my actual work within about an hour and a half, and then spent the rest of the day just watching through training videos. Those aren't due until the end of next month, but now I've only got one more to do.

After the half day, my mom came to pick me up. We headed back to her house to hang out.

We made some of our family's traditional holiday cookies: molasses cookies and butter cookies.

Pics of both: )

We did get a bit of a white Christmas - it snowed a fairly good amount on Christmas Eve. Not as badly around us as it did out on the plains to the east, but still enough to stick. Fortunately the roads around us didn't get too bad.

Taylor and I finished up the Final Fantasy XIV raid we'd started last time ("The Binding Coils of Bahamut.") I definitely see what they meant about this being kind of a weird one to have be optional... because it really does feel extremely plot-relevant, despite a sort of "and now we must never speak of this to anyone" conclusion.

Then we watched the last three episodes of The Fall of the House of Usher. Not quite a typical holiday vibe, but I guess it falls under the "stories of ghosts terrorizing rich people" heading, lol.

Christmas Day was also nice. I was gifted a ton of books (as I'd asked for, haha.) My TBR list is definitely crying, and I have GOT to figure out how to make more time and space for reading. They also got a bunch of books from me. I'm pretty sure that's about 90% of what all our gift-giving is: just... swapping books around, lol.

Alex slept in, but came over to join us around 1:00 or so.

Cy was criminally cozy on my mom's loveseat. (He wrapped himself in the blanket, by nosing under where it was draped over the back of the seat.) The cushion cover is on there solely to protect my mom's furniture from our dogs' stomping on it.

And here's Bella standing on the loveseat. (The books on the table there are all the ones Taylor got, ha.) Ignore Bella's butt glowing in the sun.

We hung around for a couple hours, and then headed home. There Alex and I exchanged our gifts. I got a couple more books, a very large set of lots of colors of gel pen, and like... a thousand cute animal stickers, haha. Also a very cute "fruit bat" squish plush (it's a bat... that looks like an orange. I love it!) Also some candy and very cozy looking socks. I got him model stuff, some brushes for pastelling, a kitchen gadget with some various blades for chopping and slicing, and a new wallet. Also candy and some silly tiny plastic crabs.

After that, he was ambushed by a nap, so we delayed our Christmas movie watching. After he woke up, we made a pizza and then watched Christmas Vacation and our always holiday classic: Christams [sic] Twister.

Amazing as always.

I was dozing off after that one, so we put our other holiday movies on hold. (I'm mildly surprised - Alex doesn't usually want to stretch it into more than one day, ha.)

Today we watched A Christmas Story and Muppet Christmas Carol. Tomorrow will be It's a Wonderful Life. That covers most of our personal holiday classics, ha.

Very glad today was a normal day off for me, but then that I also took tomorrow off. I feel like I *should* have the week between Christmas and New Years off to just do... nothing. Or nothing beyond recovering from a big holiday and doing whatever I want to in order to prep for the new year. But alas, it's hard to take that string of time off from work, since there are a LOT of people who want it off, and a lot that's hard to get coverage for. Oh well - a three and a half day weekend is still nice.
mistressofmuses: Image of nebulae in the colors of the bi pride flag: pink, purple, and blue (Default)

Because of course I take an obnoxious number of dog pictures. Most of these are from a day in the park on November 22nd, though there are some other ones from other dates.

Both of them curled up together last night. Awww.

I wanted a picture of the dogs laying nicely together... but they weren't terribly cooperative. Cy wanted to plop down and sun, while Bella wanted to get up and do things, lol.

Six more pictures below the cut: )

And one non-dog picture: look at this cute ladybug in the park.

mistressofmuses: Image of nebulae in the colors of the bi pride flag: pink, purple, and blue (Default)

(Plus a few other pics.)

October 28 and 29th we had our first snow of the season, and it did in fact suck. I always think it sucks, because I hate cold and snow, but it felt particularly bad this time around. It had been nearly 80° earlier in the week, and the fall colors were still going strong. Plus it just felt mean to have our very first snow be 6 or 7 inches, rather than just a dusting or so! I'm still a little annoyed that it put such an abrupt end to my enjoyment of October right before Halloween (though I did my best to scrounge it back up.)

And now in November, we've had Fall Part 2, which feels weirder, but I'm not really complaining about it. Yes, I know it's a sign of how inescapable climate change has become, but I'll enjoy the warm for now.

(Alex took this picture.) Bella agrees with how I feel about this whole snow thing.

Cy would like you to know he's the saddest dog in the world.

(Pics of spiders, insects, and dogs per usual. A mix between the two days.)

Our weather in early October really was beautiful, so we wanted to take advantage by going outside and enjoying it. A lot of days we weren't able to do bigger stuff, but we could at least head to the city park.

And then there's Bella...

She can look quite lovely, (if a little spacey.)

Or.

Here she is running full-tilt for off-leash energy expulsion.

Majestic.

Eight pictures below the cut, mostly of insects or spiders: )

I still feel like I didn't appreciate October (or fall in general) the way I'd hoped to - it went far too fast and in a blur of too much "regular life". (I tried to do my autumn devotional thing to stay a bit more mindful of it, but success was mixed.) Still, it's nice that we did have some days like these ones, where we were outside in the sun.
mistressofmuses: Image of nebulae in the colors of the bi pride flag: pink, purple, and blue (Default)
We went on a really lovely hike today, enjoying this unseasonably warm day. It was beautiful, and I'm really glad we got to go be outside for a few hours. (There will be pictures later, but I haven't sorted through them yet.)

That does mean that I didn't succeed in any of the catching up I needed to do, but I think getting outside and moving around was the better thing to do! I wish I had another day off - I feel a bit more energized and like I *could* tackle that stuff I've fallen behind on... but now it's time to go back to my workweek where I have no time or energy. Bleh.

-

We finished watching The Fall of the House of Usher, and I really enjoyed it. I'm hoping to rewatch it with Taylor - I think they'd like it, too.

-

Took the dogs to the pet store yesterday and wound up getting them too much stuff. Spoiled monsters.

Bella is up to 41 lbs though, which is great! That's about the weight we were hoping to get her to. She fluctuated in the mid-30s when we got her from the shelter before we figured out her dietary problems. Because of her knees we were told *not* to let her gain any weight, and I understand the concern, but... her ribs were still prominent at that weight, and her hip bones stuck out enough that they caused discomfort for her when she'd sit, or if people pet her there. So while we don't want her much heavier than this, she's looking and moving SO much better now. She's also put on a lot of muscle - she actually has the beginnings of a butt, lol, plus her shoulders and chest are getting stronger. She looks like a proper beefy pitbull (just still small)! I am still just really blown away by how much better she looks now as compared to when we got her.

Cy has unfortunately dropped quite a bit of weight. We've upped his food intake, and his energy levels have been great the last few days, but it's upsetting how much muscle he's lost. He still seems to be doing okay otherwise, but just isn't holding weight well.

-

I've got two major things to catch up on: writing the AUgust oneshots, and catching up on my habit tracking. I think the biggest issue I've been having is that both are hovering over me, and then I can't decide which to do, so I wind up doing neither. I feel like catching up on the tracking means I'm neglecting writing, but every day that I DON'T catch up on tracking is another day I have to try and reconstruct from memory. Both tasks feel like they grow to an even less-manageable size every day I fail to do them, and the indecision about which to tackle has been paralyzing me.

Sure, these are annoying minor problems to be griping about this way, but this is one of those probable-ADHD things that I HATE struggling with, because I CAN see that it's a stupid thing to be so stuck on, and it's not like any of this is high-stakes, but it is SO EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING.

-

NaNoWriMo is coming up distressingly fast, and I'm still trying to figure out what I want to do for it, if anything. I feel like I'll regret it if I don't even give it a go, but I also worry about trying to tackle it without a chance to do any preparatory work, and considering how badly I've dragged on the AU fics, I don't think I'll have a chance to do anything else this month.

I'm aware that I've been battling burnout for months - for most of this year, really, though I've actually written a lot more than I'd anticipated I would this year so far. Even so, it's been in spurts, broken up with a lot of frustrating stretches of near-zero writing because I just *can't.* I don't like that feeling, and unfortunately I know that a lot of times NaNo leaves me feeling that way if I push too hard to make wordcount.

Buuuuut, I also really WANT to get excited about a project, and NaNo can be a great source of hype and enthusiasm, even if I'm not doing any of the social aspects of it. I want to write something that's just... shamelessly iddy and do my best to have FUN writing something. Not that other things haven't been fun, just... I really want to lean into writing something tailor-made as brain candy for me, lol. Then again, writing something intended to be pure id-fic for myself is a little revealing, ha, and makes me reluctant to say overmuch about it. (But I'm leaning toward a fantasy werewolf poly romance thing that I accidentally got invested in some ideas for, lol.)
